BOY & BEAR ANNOUNCE REGIONAL ‘HARLEQUIN DREAM’ TOUR

Having just completed a national tour of Australia last month and only recently announcing a thirty-two date tour of Europe and America for February/March/April (including SXSW), Australia’s own Boy & Bear are thrilled to inform their fans of an extensive thirty-date regional tour of Australia. They’ll be kick starting in Mackay (QLD) in mid-April, moving through the NT, WA, VIC and the ACT, finishing off in Dubbo (NSW) at the end of May.

“This will be the most extensive regional tour the band has done and we are very much looking forward to it,” enthuses singer and songwriter Dave Hosking. “We love the idea of playing to new people in new and exciting parts of the country.”

Boy & Bear have already celebrated a #1 debut on the ARIA Album Chart and now their critically acclaimed second album, Harlequin Dream is officially certified Gold in Australia, selling in excess of 35,000 copies since its release in August. Harlequin Dream is the follow up album to the band’s platinum selling debut album, Moonfire and was co-produced by Boy & Bear and Wayne Connelly.

And in other exciting news, Harlequin Dream has appeared at number seven on Triple J’s listener poll for Top Ten Favourite Albums, with Boy & Bear being the only Australian band to make the list.

The band have also unveiled the brand new video for single and album title track, Harlequin Dream, filmed by acclaimed director Kris Moyes (Sia, Beck, The Presets) on location in Palawan in The Philippines just fourteen days prior to the devastating impact of Typhoon Haiyan. The people and locations that were filmed are safe due to the surrounding mountains, but donations are still welcomed to help those whose lives have been affected. Donations can be made via the following organisations: UNICEF, OXFAM, AUSTRALIAN RED CROSS, SAVE THE CHILDREN AUSTRALIA.

HAMISH ANDERSON ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE ‘WINTER’ ALONGSIDE SYD, MELB & NZ SHOW DATES

Melbourne’s newly discovered indie talent – vocalist, guitarist and prolific songwriter, Hamish Anderson has announced the release of his new single, Winter alongside shows at Revolver Upstairs (Melbourne) on November 20, his first ever New Zealand show at Tabac Bar (Auckland) on Nov 26 and Brighton Up Bar (Sydney) on November 27.
Earlier this year Anderson impressed the music industry and dramatically grew his national fan base with the release of his debut single, Howl and self-titled EP which features a host of notable musicians including members of Foo Fighters, The Wallflowers and Angus & Julia Stone.
Rated 5/5 by JJJ’s Amelia Chappelow, new single Winter is a hauntingly beautiful ballad that shows elegant restraint and maturity well beyond Anderson’s youthful twenty-two years. With a tender melody and pretty folk guitar gently driving the song, it’s Anderson’s sensitive vocal delivery that steals the show. Originally written as a poem, Anderson explains, “I wrote Winter when I was seventeen… it was written as a goodbye… about knowing something is over and having to move on.” He goes on to say, “I’m really excited to be showcasing a different side of the EP as the first single Howl peddled my full band sound.”
The video clip for Winter was filmed by director James Base who also filmed the clip for Anderson’s debut single, Howl. “We decided to really strip things back and try and do a very raw video that was a one-take performance of the song in front of a group of friends at one of their houses in Melbourne. I wanted the video to be live so it would have an authentic feel to it and capture the real emotions of the song,” explains Anderson.
Having made a name for himself across the local scene for his impressive live show that encompasses a mix of blues, rock and folk with moments of loud, electric blues-soaked songs as well as delicate acoustic balladry, Anderson comes armed with a host of noteworthy tunes and an impressive songwriting and vocal ripeness. Especially thrilled to be taking his live show on the road to New Zealand, Anderson enthuses, “We got some really great feedback about the EP over in New Zealand and were invited to play a show supporting an artist called Ezra Vine who is getting a lot of buzz over there. I’m excited to be playing in front of a new audience in a country I’ve never been to before and to be taking the music to audiences outside of Australia.”

“When the smoky, raw and gritty guitar comes slinking towards you and an almost eerie vocal joins the mix, you’ll hear a voice that sounds like it has already experienced a lot.” Ara Jansen – The West Australian
