ETHEREAL POP DUO AUGUSTE ANNOUNCE NEW VIDEO ‘KINGDOM’

Ethereal pop duo, Auguste are set to release their new single, Kingdom on April 15, a synth-soaked call-to-arms for those defending themselves against personal space invaders. The talented gals have also released a stunning video to accompany the single which features contemporary dancers Jess Statton and Aiden Kane Munn in a sharp studio landscape turned battleground against doubt.

Off the back of the success of their last single Slow Motion, which has almost 200,000 streams on Soundcloud, Kingdom is a mature offering from the duo. Produced by renowned Australian musician and producer Andy Bull, Kingdom comes as a welcome anthem about taking control of your own personal space. Written by the step-sisters and self-confessed BFFs, Skye Lockwood and Beth Keough, the single is reminiscent of London Grammar, Bat for Lashes and Ellie Goulding, with effortless vocal harmonies, climactic synth swells, dramatic silences and thought-provoking lyrics. Of the release, vocalist and guitarist Lockwood says, “Kingdom is about personal space and the challenges we face when others are invading that space in a negative way…it’s really a bit of an ‘eff you’ to anyone who has ever tried to control you or tell you what to do.”

The accompanying video for Kingdom is clean, regal and promotes a sense of strength and independence in the face of negativity. Produced by Rebecca Elliot, directed & edited by Alfonso Coronel and filmed by David Gregan, the clip depicts Auguste as modest royalty, watching over as two dancers illustrate a battle for ‘the kingdom’. Reflecting on the clip, vocalist and keyboardist Beth Keough explains, “The song is called Kingdom because of the lyric ‘this corner is my kingdom’, so there is royal imagery worked into the scenes…. we wanted the clip to evoke that feeling of ownership.”

The Adelaide-natives are thrilled to release Kingdom into the world, and this is just the beginning for the pair who are already working on their next single, with plans for an EP in the near future. In the meantime, Keough says the duo are content with the Auguste lifestyle. “We both live in Adelaide and it’s a pretty bloody good life, living close to town. It’s affordable for an artist and there is always so much to do, the creative scene is really thriving here at the moment and we both love getting out amongst it, and getting inspired by it all.”

‘THE HIDING’ ANNOUNCE NEW SINGLE, VIDEO AND RUN OF SHOWS

Melbourne indie electro-pop act The Hiding have today announced their new single, Karma My Life alongside an artistic, emotive video clip and several show dates kicking off in Bendigo at Rifle Brigade Hotel on April 29, moving through to Mynt Lounge (Werribee) on May 6 and finishing up at Revolver (Melb) on May 21.

The band’s folk inspired percussive guitar sound takes influence from when the band were absorbing the many acoustic performances in Central Park whilst living in New York. With a memorable hook and a happy, roadtripping vibe, the single touts a supremely positive message, a recurring theme that flows through the band’s songwriting. “Life can throw so many speed bumps and The Hiding has experienced its fair share of these,” explains lyricist and guitarist, Anthony Salce. “It can be deflating and soul damaging, however, these are life lessons we all experience and Karma my life is about accepting these journeys, appreciating the turning point and celebrating the ‘positive experience’ that changed your life.”

The video clip is a fittingly uplifting collaboration with masterful Italian sand artist, Fatmir Mura. It fuses Fatmir’s signature live, hand-crafted sand images to artistically tell the story behind Karma My Life and the resulting video is a compelling, literal work of art. Widely known around Europe, Fatmir’s sand art videos have been creating a stir around the world. As soon as the band had the idea to collaborate with an artist to create a visual interpretation of the imagery of the song, they knew Fatmir was the man for the job. Anthony enthuses, “As Karma My Life is an honest and emotive piece, we wanted the video to represent the changing nature of the band and the need to adapt to your surroundings, which Fatmir delivers very well in his sand art.”

Excited to hit the road with their new tunes, Anthony explains, “We always aim for a high energy vibe, as well as plenty of crowd interaction, it’s about making that party vibe come alive through every song.”

The Hiding are Anthony Salce (vocals, guitar, synths), Ryan Di Cecco (bass), Tom Moore (drums), Stewart Winchester (guest lead vocals) and Chris Salce (keys).

TINPAN ORANGE ANNOUNCE POLYESTER RECORDS IN-STORE PERFORMANCE ON ALBUM RELEASE DAY THIS FRIDAY

Virtuosic folk group, Tinpan Orange will be releasing their fifth studio album Love Is A Dog this Friday, April 8. The highly anticipated release will be celebrated with an in-store performance and signing by the band at Melbourne’s renowned Polyester Records, alongside 100 limited edition vinyl copies of the album that will be available for sale at the event. Tinpan Orange will also be embarking upon an extensive national album tour, kicking off with a performance at the Fairbridge Folk Festival in Western Australian on April 16, moving through Tasmania, Melbourne, Mullumbimby, Brisbane, Sydney, Darwin, Fremantle and finishing up in Adelaide on June 5.

Love Is A Dog is a complex, luscious offering from this seasoned trio. Opulent string arrangements, intricate guitar hooks and unforgettable vocal melodies from lead vocalist Emily Lubitz all dictate the dark, rambling nature of the record. In light of the fast-approaching release, Emily enthuses, ‘We’ve been working on this album for so long with so many great people and we are very excited to get it out into the world…we can’t wait to share these new babies with our fans on tour.’

Tinpan Orange are thrilled to celebrate the album release with an in-store performance and signing at Polyester Records at 6pm on April 8. In addition to this intimate performance, the band has also produced 100 limited edition, orange-coloured vinyl copies of Love Is A Dog, which will be available for purchase on the night. As avid patrons of Polyester Records themselves, the band are looking forward to this special event, as guitarist Jesse Lubitz recalls, “I remember being on Brunswick Street one night when I was 19, and coming across Polyester Records. I thought it was cool that the store was open so late and I became a fan of the place…I remember thinking this has got to be pretty much the best record store in town. We’re stoked to be playing there live on album release day.”

To support the new LP that was produced by the band in collaboration with Harry James Angus (The Cat Empire, Jackson Jackson) and mixed by the renowned Adam Selzer (M.Ward, She & Him, Jolie Holland), Tinpan Orange will hit the road for a full lap of the map in April and May. Enthusiastic about the current lineup of the band, Emily explains, “We are enjoying playing as a trio at the moment…I like singing in that space and I love to hear Alex (Burkoy) fill some of the spaces with his strings. Our shows are intimate, and when I’m feeling safe and sound, I will tell a few stories and share some thoughts…and Alex might even tell a joke!”

Tinpan Orange are Emily Lubitz, Jesse Lubitz and Alex Burkoy, with the in-studio help of Daniel Farrugia (Angus & Julia Stone, Missy Higgins) on drums and Jules Pascoe (Clairy Browne & The Bangin’ Racketts) on bass guitar.
