HOLY HOLY RELEASE VIDEO FOR ‘SENTIMENTAL AND MONDAY’
One week out from their anticipated debut album release, nostalgic Aussie indie rockers, Holy Holy have today released a reflective video for new single, Sentimental and Monday.
“Sentimental and Monday has a bit of different feel to some of our other songs – it uses a hip hop beat and a boy choir at the end to build up to the outro, which I love,” enthuses lead vocalist and songwriter Tim Carroll. “We also used sped up piano in the middle, so there are a few little tricks in the mix on this one.”
The result is dynamic, tasteful and restrained. Radiating an overwhelming feeling of nostalgia, the song was “inspired by the onset of winter and the feeling of the long, dark season approaching” coupled with the sentiment Carroll experienced when leaving Stockholm after calling it home for a year. Carroll goes on to explain, “It’s about leaving loved ones behind and that sentimental feeling you get when saying goodbye. It’s meant to be kinda sad but also uplifting in a way, there’s a freedom from moving away that’s exciting and scary.”
The film clip was created by Josh Dawson, guitarist Oscar Dawson’s brother. Josh works as a director in Berlin producing short films and video projects. For this track he created an otherworldly dreamscape of seemingly impossible scenes. Shot from the window of passenger jet, the clip references the themes of moving away and pushes into the unreal.
Having recently returned from a hugely successful UK/EU tour in May (which included packed shows at Primavera Spain, London Calling Amsterdam & The Great Escape UK – where Artrocker named them in their top 6 bands of the festival), Holy Holy are also geared for their performance at Splendour In The Grass, the release of their debut album When The Storms Would Come on July 24, a 17 date national album tour through August/September, and a planned follow-up UK/EU tour for later this year. 2015 is set to be the biggest year yet for this hard working band.
Holy Holy is fronted by the songwriting team, vocalist/composer Timothy Carroll and guitarist/composer Oscar Dawson. They are joined on the road by permanent drummer Ryan Strathie (Hungry Kids Of Hungary, Andy Bull), touring bassist Graham Ritchie (Airling, Emma Louise), and Brisbane-based producer Matt Redlich as their touring keys player.
