BOY & BEAR ANNOUNCE REGIONAL ‘HARLEQUIN DREAM’ TOUR

Having just completed a national tour of Australia last month and only recently announcing a thirty-two date tour of Europe and America for February/March/April (including SXSW), Australia’s own Boy & Bear are thrilled to inform their fans of an extensive thirty-date regional tour of Australia. They’ll be kick starting in Mackay (QLD) in mid-April, moving through the NT, WA, VIC and the ACT, finishing off in Dubbo (NSW) at the end of May.

“This will be the most extensive regional tour the band has done and we are very much looking forward to it,” enthuses singer and songwriter Dave Hosking. “We love the idea of playing to new people in new and exciting parts of the country.”

Boy & Bear have already celebrated a #1 debut on the ARIA Album Chart and now their critically acclaimed second album, Harlequin Dream is officially certified Gold in Australia, selling in excess of 35,000 copies since its release in August. Harlequin Dream is the follow up album to the band’s platinum selling debut album, Moonfire and was co-produced by Boy & Bear and Wayne Connelly.

And in other exciting news, Harlequin Dream has appeared at number seven on Triple J’s listener poll for Top Ten Favourite Albums, with Boy & Bear being the only Australian band to make the list.

The band have also unveiled the brand new video for single and album title track, Harlequin Dream, filmed by acclaimed director Kris Moyes (Sia, Beck, The Presets) on location in Palawan in The Philippines just fourteen days prior to the devastating impact of Typhoon Haiyan. The people and locations that were filmed are safe due to the surrounding mountains, but donations are still welcomed to help those whose lives have been affected. Donations can be made via the following organisations: UNICEF, OXFAM, AUSTRALIAN RED CROSS, SAVE THE CHILDREN AUSTRALIA.

COSENTINO THE GRAND ILLUSIONIST WINS DANCING WITH THE STARS

Last night saw Cosentino win his second impressive, globally recognised title after he claimed the championship title of Dancing With The Stars Australia just four days after he was announced as the winner of the prestigious Merlin award for International Magician of The Year.

(November 26, 2013) Cameras swept the dance floor to capture the show-stopping opener, a brilliantly choreographed relay of routines from all season 13 couples. It was déjà vu as all cast returned to relive a moment of their dancing dream, but ultimately, all eyes were on the final three Tina Arena, Cosentino and Rhiannon Fish who competed in three rounds of dancing including a redemption dance, sudden death Cha Cha and a final Freestyle in their attempt at glory.

Cosentino and Jess kicked off the championship with their redemption Samba and the judges saw huge improvement. Their Romeo and Juliet inspired Freestyle capped off their Dancing journey spectacularly. Kym said “well the first time we saw you do contemporary it was impressive and this was even more impressive. You’ve come back stronger every week.” Adam agreed “that was so assured. There’s such a wonderful soul when you dance.”

Cosentino was thrilled on his victory, saying, “to be in the top three is unbelievable and to be in this position is phenomenal.” It has been a tumultuous season for the couple, which included a new professional dance partner in episode two after Jess sustained a serious back injury. Jess said “we look like we gel so much on the dance floor, because we do in real life. It’s been an honor to dance with him everyday.”

Having only recently released his brand new magic kits to stores all around Australia, Cosentino has even more to be excited about as his top rating three-part TV special has just been picked up for prime time viewing across twenty-two countries in 2014 and will be complemented by an overseas tour next year.

Adelaide fans still have a chance to see Cosentino live with limited tickets still available to his final show of the tour at the Entertainment Centre on November 30, tickets through cosentino.com.au and livenation.com.au

COSENTINO WINS COVETED MERLIN AWARD FOR ‘INTERNATIONAL MAGICIAN OF THE YEAR’

Australia’s own globally renowned master illusionist, Cosentino has been paid the highest tribute in magic after being crowned and presented as the winner of the coveted Merlin Award for ‘International Magician of The Year 2013’ in Melbourne on the weekend.

The Merlin Award is to magic what the Oscar is to motion pictures, and to honour Cosentino and his remarkable win the world’s largest magic organization, the International Magicians Society flew their CEO and Chairman, Mr Tony Hassini over to Australia from New York to present Cosentino with the award before his sell out show at The Palais Theatre on Saturday night.

This prestigious accolade is a peer-voted award and judged by the 47,000 members of the International Magicians Society. Previous winners of this award have been David Copperfield, Siegfried & Roy, Penn & Teller and Criss Angel.

“No one knows more than your peers the hard work and dedication that you have given to magic. To be honored by your peers is the greatest compliment you can receive. We honor you and your achievement in magic,” said Mr Hassini.

Humbled by this incredible win, Cosentino enthuses, “to be named Best International Magician for 2013 is a dream come true. Over the years I have seen this prestigious award presented to the biggest names in magic, including one of my true heroes my David Copperfield. To be recognised in this way by my peers around the world is an incredible honour.”

Cosentino will be dancing his way through Australians’ lounge rooms in the finale of Dancing With The Stars on Tuesday night (November 26) and will be completing his final show of the national tour in Adelaide at the Entertainment Centre on November 30.

Limited tickets are still available to Cosentino’s Adelaide show through www.cosentino.com.au or www.livenation.com.au
