GRINSPOON ANNOUNCE ‘BEST NIGHT EVER!’
Post-grunge Aussie rockers Grinspoon have announced their very own not-quite New Years bash, Best Night Ever!, set to shake up Nightquarter on the Gold Coast on December 30. The legendary Grinners will be joined by fellow rock royalty British India and local up and comers Eliza & The Delusionals and Voiid.
Off the back of their hugely successful and fully sold-out 31 date national tour to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of their debut album Guide To Better Living, Grinspoon just can’t get enough of the stage and are thrilled to announce one more show for the year.
Presented by NightQuarter and New World Artists, Best Night Ever! is putting every effort into living up to its namesake for the fans. To make their night as seamless as possible, punters only need to present their tickets to receive free public transport on SE QLD Translink network on show day. The lineup is not to be missed; alongside Grinners will be British India, smashing through their latest hit record Forgetting the Future plus some older fan faves. Eliza & The Delusionals have been making waves since their debut single The Ground was met with rapturous praise in 2016, while VOIID are some talented young punk rockers who are guaranteed to make faces melt.
Phil Jamieson, lead vocalist of Grinspoon, is stoked to be kicking it on stage for one last massive 2017 party, saying, “It is with great pleasure that we’re taking out the year in style at the NightQuarter. 2017 has been a brilliant year for GSPN HQ… we’ve played to many friends, danced with many dancers, traversed over land & sea visiting every state & territory in this wonderful country of ours. We want to have one final party to celebrate and this is where YOU come in. Dear Friends, you are cordially invited to the BEST NIGHT EVER! it will be the… BEST NIGHT EVER! because that is what its name is – THERE ARE NO EXCUSES! See you there!”
This is one for the fans who can’t face those New Years crowds – enjoy a flat-out night of great music without the stress of the New Year’s countdown or the trauma of trying to catch a maxed-out Uber in a packed-out city. Some punters might even treat this as a hefty entrée to their New Year’s bender – any way you spin it, it’s set to be the Best Night Ever!
Grinspoon is Phil Jamieson on vocals, Pat Davern on guitar, Joe Hansen on bass and Kristian Hopes on drums.

RYA PARK ANNOUNCES DEBUT SINGLE + VIDEO ‘BILLY’ + SHOWS
Indie newcomer Rya Park has today announced her eerie debut single Billy, a seriously catchy, name-and-shame of a track (out October 6), and she’s also dropped a video to accompany Billy; simple, sultry, and dangerous, made in collaboration with director Dan Howe of Set To Suite. She will be showcasing Billy and more tunes off her highly anticipated EP in her first run of shows hitting Oxford Arts Factory Gallery on November 4 and The Evelyn on November 9.
The intriguing Billy prompts a couple of questions…who is Billy? And what exactly did he do? None of them are answered, but that only makes you want to listen again. Rya Park draws upon influences such as Florence and The Machine and PJ Harvey here, yet maintains a spellbinding charm that is uniquely hers. The mysterious narrative is delivered with a raised eyebrow and a flawless vocal; a memorable performance that sits comfortably atop a sparse arrangement of gritty guitar and textural percussion. Reflecting on the track, Rya Park explains, “The song was inspired by a relationship that ended without explanation. The lyrics intensely focus on a range of emotions that stemmed from the situation. A long time had passed when I got to writing the song, but there were still so many unanswered questions and I just wanted to get everything out onto the page and not hold back.”
The clip for Billy is concise and effective; Rya Park sits by herself, retelling the story of Billy and reflecting on what went wrong. Everything is laid out on the table; it’s impossible to look away as each line hits harder than the last. Rya Park is scorned, still in the light of day but dancing slowly in the dark. Of the collaboration with director Dan Howe, she says, “As this is the first videoclip I’ve made, it was really important to me to find someone who was on the same page as me. Dan had seen me perform a number of times and knows my songs really well, so it was really natural and easy for us to figure out what we wanted to create. In our first meeting we agreed that we would focus on generating a mood rather than depicting a storyline.”
Rya Park will be heading up the east coast to celebrate the release of Billy, and although this is her first official release, she is no stranger to the stage, fronting Melbourne’s Tempus Sun as well as performing as Rya Park since 2016. Giving fans a little taste of what to expect from the shows, she says, “My live shows are very energetic and dramatic. My full band is coming on tour with me so fans can definitely expect electrifying guitars, powerful rock beats, soulful harmonies and soaring vocals.”
Billy will be released on October 6 and tickets to the shows are on sale now.

PETE MURRAY DROPS NEW VIDEO FOR ‘CONNECTED’ + A DAY ON THE GREEN NATIONAL SHOWS
After wowing fans on his epic 33 date national tour that wound up in Darwin on the weekend, beloved Aussie songwriter Pete Murray has dropped a heartwarming video for his song Connected, a video tour diary and a gift for the dedicated fans who sold out Pete’s shows across the country. Never one to sit still, Pete has also just announced a run of shows for A Day On The Green alongside James Blunt, kicking off on March 10 at Bimbadgen Winery in New South Wales, then moving through Queensland, Victoria, and finishing up at Kings Park in Western Australia on March 20 next year.
Connected gives fans an exclusive look at what a national tour looks like from the artist’s perspective. Tranquil soundchecks, packed shows and backstage singalongs are all a part of life for Pete, and he takes it all in his stride in this effective clip for an album favourite. Connected, a sweet, groove-based ballad, sits well with the positive vibes in this video and is a fantastic example of the exquisite songwriting on show on Camacho, Pete’s latest album that debuted at #3 on the ARIA charts. Still buzzing from a hugely successful run of shows, Pete says, “I have had so much fun on the Camacho album tour, playing the new tracks to fans has been so rewarding, meeting everyone on the tour has been inspiring and I have had a blast. Whilst on the road we filmed a couple of shows and pulled this video together for Connected, a song very close to my heart and one of my favourites from the album. I hope you like it.”
For the fans who missed out on tickets to the Camacho tour, Pete is excited to announce that he’ll be back on the road in March alongside James Blunt, Busby Marou and Karise Eden for A Day On The Green.
Camacho was released on June 2 and is available to order from www.petemurray.com.
“Murray is exactly what you expect on stage, his live performance is a perfect translation of his recorded sound and he’s passionate about everything he does. He’s sultry, sexy and jazzy all at the same time. Additionally, Murray interacts well with his audiences, you’re not let down by his quips and witty responses to calls from the crowd…If you have a taste for Pete Murray’s casually cool and charming sound, take the time to check him out live—you will not be disappointed.” – GLAM ADELAIDE
“Maybe the mighty Murray is the Camacho man? His career has certainly been a triumph…(he’s) managed to connect with the masses, selling more than one million records. He traverses new territory here, adding some hip beats to his cruisy, sensitive sound. “It’s been such a long ride,” he sings. And it ain’t over yet.” – STACK MAGAZINE (JB HIFI)
