MONTAIGNE ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE READY OUT TODAY NEW ALBUM COMPLEX OUT AUGUST 30 – PREORDER NOW NATIONAL TOUR IN NOVEMBER
Following on from her national For Your Love single tour in April, Montaigne has today released her new single Ready, and confirmed details of her forthcoming LP and national tour.
Ready is undoubtedly Montaigne’s most anthemic single to date, and is lifted from her soon to be released second album entitled Complex, the follow up to her ARIA Award winning, Top 5 debut album, Glorious Heights. Complex is set for release on August 30 and is available to preorder now, with all preorders scoring a bonus illustrated poster. There will also be a spectacular limited edition red vinyl of Complex available to preorder, along with CD/vinyl bundles with an environmentally friendly tote bag included.
To celebrate the new record, Montaigne will be hitting the road for her Complex album tour (presented by triple j) in November 2019, kicking off in Adelaide on November 7, then moving through Perth, Fremantle, Maroochydore, Brisbane, Byron Bay, Bendigo, Torquay, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, and finishing up in Wollongong on November 30. Montaigne has partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 from every ticket goes to support Bush Heritage Australia a national non-profit organisation conserving biodiversity in Australia. www.bushheritage.org.au
New single Ready is a heartfelt call to arms, a soundtrack for activism. There’s an undeniable element of pop to this song as Montaigne’s soaring vocals elevate the chorus, and the irresistible hook ‘I think I’m ready to go, I think I’m ready’, cycles like a mantra around shifting drumbeats. However, like all of Montaigne’s music, there is a deeper element, a considered purpose for this song, as she explains, “To me the song is about this political moment, where humanity is starting to realise how actually cooked this planet is, that it never had to be like this, and that we have the power now to overthrow those who’ve forced us into this corner. It’s music that I’m proud of representing, because I think that it reflects the feelings swirling around the current political shitfest my generation is facing, and it attempts to transform the anxiety amongst those feelings into angry power. It’s like a fuel source.”
Complex is certainly an accurate name for the articulate popstress’ second album. Themes will range from loneliness, isolation, distorted love narratives, confused sense of self, the desire to escape, self-image issues and self-realisation. All these concepts interact and percolate amongst themselves on Complex, and Montaigne does a spectacular job of expressing herself with eloquence, passion and powerful vocal authority. Speaking on the inspiration and work behind the album, she says, “The right songs all came together over a couple of years and each song pertains to a different period of my life. It’s basically a series of portraits of all of my insecurities, or the weird relationships I’ve been in, or neurotic feelings I’ve felt while being attracted to others. The album’s like this veil behind which I stashed all these secrets I was keeping from myself.”
Montaigne worked with a wide range of producers on Complex, including long-time collaborator Tony Buchen (Courtney Barnett, The Preatures), Wynne Bennett (Twin Shadow, Janelle Monae), Kyle Shearer (Dua Lipa, Broods, K. Flay), Mozella (Madonna, Miley Cyrus, One Direction), Dave Sitek (TV On The Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Foals), Mario Späte (Tkay Maidza, Urthboy, Allday) and Eric J Dubowsky (Flume, St. Vincent, Dua Lipa).
Montaigne will be playing shows around the country in November to celebrate the release of Complex. Her unique, theatrical and emotional performance style never fails to impress. Fans should get in early to avoid disappointment.

GRINSPOON ANNOUNCE EXTENSIVE NATIONAL CHEMICAL HEARTS TOUR IN OCTOBER/NOVEMBER WITH SPECIAL GUESTS THE HARD ACHES, GOOCH PALMS + BUGS + EXCLUSIVE CHEMICAL HEARTS VINYL
Legendary Aussie rockers Grinspoon have today announced their epic Chemical Hearts national tour, set to make its way around the country in October and November, supported by The Hard Aches, Gooch Palms and Bugs. In celebration of the tour, the band will be releasing a Chemical Hearts vinyl record on the day the tour kicks off, October 11, with a tracklist that will offer fans a nostalgic taste of what’s to come at the shows.
Presale tickets for Grinspoon’s Chemical Hearts national tour will be available via Telstra Plus from 9am (local) Wednesday 5 June, before the general public on sale at 10am (local) Friday 7 June 2019 from www.grinspoon.com.au.
In 1997, the youthful Grinspoon uploaded the track Sickfest to triple j Unearthed, not knowing the life-changing success that was to come. With Sickfest, Grinspoon won Unearthed’s national band comp in its first year – and for the next two months the track was the stations’ most request song. What followed was an illustrious career, with seven albums, Top Ten ARIA chart spots, ARIA Awards, 13 ARIA nominations, more than 1,000 gigs, tens of thousands of frequent flyer miles, 7 appearances at the Big Day Out as well as slots at Homebake, Falls Festival, Splendour In The Grass, an NRL Grand Final and a Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony in Melbourne. Despite these massive achievements, Grinspoon don’t have plans to wrap things up any time soon.
The Chemical Hearts tour will be packed with hits and audience faves from the band’s festival performances over the years, but will also pay homage to their discography after the record that thrust them into the spotlight, Guide To Better Living. The tour will kick off in Fremantle on October 11 at Metropolis, then move through Perth, Melbourne, Canberra, Hobart, Adelaide, Wollongong, Newcastle, Sydney, Gold Coast, and wrap up in Brisbane on November 8 at The Fortitude Music Hall.
The accompanying vinyl record, Chemical Hearts, will contain some of the band’s favourite singles and a taste of the setlist from the tour.
“It is with great delight that we announce a cute little sojourn around the country with Grinspoon visiting (hopefully) all of you! We are going to be doing a little thing called Chemical Hearts. The tour comes with the crazy new vinyl record which features (arguably) some of our favourites on wax,” says lead vocalist Phil Jamieson.
“Joining us are absolute legends of the game The Hard Aches, Gooch Palms and Bugs. These concerts will have a very exciting atmos due to the individual scintillating performances by these amazing acts. We’re super excited to be doing this tour. We don’t get out much anymore and our last one focused primarily on our first record and this one will take a more broad approach to the little nuggets of songs that came between 1995 and 2013. Sooooooo…. long story short. TOUR – CHEMICAL HEARTS – OCTOBER / NOVEMBER ~ ripper time. Ripper bands. Great times. Classic hits.”
And if the 2017 20th Anniversary Guide To Better Living tour is anything to go by, tickets will disappear fast.
Tickets go on sale at 10.00am (local) Friday 7 June from www.grinspoon.com.au, with the exclusive 48-hour Telstra Plus presale running from 9.00am (local) Wednesday 5 June
The Chemical Hearts vinyl record will be available October 11
Grinspoon is Phil Jamieson on vocals, Pat Davern on guitar, Joe Hansen on bass and Kristian Hopes on drums.

SONGWRITER AND PRODUCER FLUIR ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE ‘HIGHER GROUND’
Empowered songwriter and producer Fluir has today announced her stellar new single Higher Ground, a hook-laden, uplifting track that encourages listeners to break away from the dull routines that can sometimes take over our lives, out May 17. The upcoming electronic artist worked with the renowned producer Sam Littlemore (Pnau, Tonite Only) on the exciting new track.
Higher Ground is one of those songs that manages to combine a number of different genres – dance, pop, electronic – in a sophisticated, not to mention inherently catchy, way. Evocative of the work of artists such as RÜFÜS DU SOL, Kilter and Alice Ivy, Higher Ground drives forward with propelling percussion, intricate production and gentle, assured vocals from Fluir. Reflecting on the inspiration behind the track, Fluir says, “In the past I’ve spent unnecessary energy worrying about what to say and how to say it lyrically. For this song, I wanted to be free from that and allow the music to be at the forefront. This track is about the freedom and excitement of getting lost in music and chasing the night with friends, wherever that may lead.”
Produced alongside Sam Littlemore of Pnau, Higher Ground is for lovers of the dancefloor. Fluir offers a little insight into her experience working with Sam, as she describes, “I wrote Higher Ground with Sam Littlemore while recording and producing my previous two singles Change and Feeling For You, both released last year. I spent a couple weeks at Sam’s home studio in Sydney where we worked together on all three tracks simultaneously. I performed Higher Ground live while recently supporting Nyxen on her Australian tour and the crowd seemed to connect with it, so I’m really excited about this release.”
Fluir is not only a killer musician, but also an Enviornmental Consultant. After reducing her work hours and relocating to Sydney to pursue music as a full-time career, Fluir has really hit her stride; sold out shows, triple j airplay and several festival appearances suggest big things to come. Sharing a little insight into what inspires her as an artist, Fluir enthuses, “I’m constantly inspired by fellow DIY musicians and artists. Being a self-managed independent artist, being able to connect and collaborate with like-minded creatives always inspires me.”
Higher Ground is out May 17.
