WHAT SO NOT ‘BEAUTIFUL THINGS WORLD TOUR’ AUSSIE LEG TO KICK OFF NEXT WEEK PERTH SHOW SOLD OUT + LIMITED TIX AVAIL TO REMAINING SHOWS NATIONAL SUPPORTS ANNOUNCED
Aussie superstar producer What So Not is set to kick off the Australian leg of his epic Beautiful Things world tour in celebration of the release of his long awaited, critically acclaimed debut LP, Not All The Beautiful Things. Starting with a sold out show at Metro City in Perth in just over a week (on June 16), we can also reveal that only a very limited number tickets remain to each of the Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane shows, with the tour wrapping on June 30.
Opting for a hands-on role across every aspect of his project, What So Not has hand selected some killer supports to take on the road with him, as well as teaming up with triple j Unearthed to add some emerging talent to the lineup on each stop of the tour (Alêtro – Ade, Yvng Jalapeno – Bris, Luboku – Mel, Tina Says – Per).
On main support duties is the incredible Brooklyn-based artist, CHROME SPARKS who has converted a legion of supporters to his deftly hybridized sound, including Pitchfork, Dancing Astronaut, Indie Shuffle, and FADER. And also joining the fun is Sydney-based pop wunderkind, KOTA BANKS, whose first single Empty Streets featuring MOZA has amassed over 18 million streams.
Pumped to take his pals on the road with him, What So Not says, “You would have heard Chrome Sparks in my sets a number of times over the years, I’m a huge fan! And I’ve had an ear on Kota ever since Nina Las Vegas put me onto her. So excited to see what these two bring to stage!”
Over three years in the making, Not All the Beautiful Things is about transformation and metamorphosis, a culmination of everything the Australian-born artist has been working towards as he’s built his reputation as one of the most innovative producers in the game, garnering over 469 million combined streams in the process. More than an album, it’s a fully realized artistic statement in which What So Not is in full control of every aspect, from the stage design and visuals to the music videos and merchandise. “I didn’t want to put anything out that doesn’t cohesively match the essence of the songs,” explains What So Not, the man behind it all, also known as Chris Emerson.
Described by NYLON as “refined and a total blast,” Not All The Beautiful Things was triple j’s Feature Album and peaked at number 14 on the ARIA charts and number 1 on the NZ Top 40 album chart. The album is named for the “incredible things we don’t pay attention to,” and, as What So Not revealed to Billboard, “everything came from real stories.”
Balancing prolific touring and studio time, 2017 saw What So Not close Coachella’s Gobi tent and headline Australia’s Listen Out festival and sold out shows across Europe, the USA and UK – and now it’s time for him to return to Australia to bring his new album to life for a homegrown crowd. Thrilled to be back in the country and to kick off the Aussie leg of the tour, What So Not enthuses, “Australia! I’m almost home! I have a lot in store & heard Perth sold out last week, amped to see you all again!”
“Refined and a total blast, What So Not’s debut is well worth the wait. His belief in it pulses through each downbeat and anti-chorus. This is honest work through and through. Ain’t that beautiful, indeed.” – NYLON
“Through a myriad of influences and emotion, What So Not’s maturity as an artist and ear for collaboration has allowed his established sound to flourish, creating something for everyone. A well-curated, well-rounded work on a bed of exquisite production.” – TheMusic.com.au
“There is really not one bad song on the album…What So Not explores many different production styles as his raw talent shines through perfectly.” – EDM Sauce

MELBOURNE GUITAR SHOW BACK AND ROCKING AT CAULFIELD RACECOURSE ON AUGUST 4 & 5 + 1ST ANNOUNCEMENT FEATURES UK GUITAR LEGEND ALBERT LEE, JEFF LANG, DANIEL CHAMPAGNE AND MANY MORE! #MGS2018
Today the Australian Music Association is thrilled to announce the 2018 return of the Melbourne Guitar Show, set to rock Caulfield Racecourse on August 4 and 5 – and this year, it’ll be bigger than ever. Proudly presented by Triple M and Australian Musician, the lineup boasts an impressive haul of both local and international artists, and featuring amongst the bunch is none other than UK guitar legend Albert Lee. In addition to some killer performances from the artists on this massive lineup, #MGS2018 will also hold a monster exhibition that will feature a gigantic variety of electric and acoustic guitars, effects pedals, amps and more state-of-the-art guitar technology, both home-grown and from around the world. It will continue to be Australia’s biggest guitar pop-up shop, and that’s not all. The Melbourne Guitar Show will host information seminars, demonstrations, and live performances from Australia’s most talented guitarists.
This year will be extra special as the Melbourne Guitar Show welcomes UK guitar legend Albert Lee. Lee’s work with The Everly Brothers, Eric Clapton, Emmylou Harris and The Crickets is renowned within the music world and cemented his place as one of the most respected and renowned guitarists in history. Speaking on Lee’s talent, Eric Clapton enthuses, “(He is) the ultimate virtuoso. His skill is extraordinary and he’s gifted on just about every level,” while Emmylou Harris says, “(Albert Lee) is a brilliant guitar player…his sound is unmistakable, never qualled.” The British-born country-rock artist started his long and illustrious career during the emerging rock ‘n’ roll scene of ‘60s London, when he played in bands with the likes of Jimmy Page and Chris Farlowe. He has received countless accolades for his work, and has been named Guitar Player Magazine’s Best Country Guitarist five times in a row.
The first lineup announcement for #MGS2018 is a big one. Joining Albert Lee is Daniel Champagne, a prolific young guitar virtuoso with the world at his feet, and Jeff Lang, who has been described by Rolling Stone as “Australia’s best roots music artisan.” Melbourne Guitar Show favourites Nick Charles, Bob Spencer and Shannon Bourne will also be returning this year, alongside some seriously talented women Fiona Boyes, Alison Ferrier, Cat Canteri, Nat Allison and upcoming punk rockers Rackett. Not to mention a whole host of additional artists are set to be announced over the coming weeks.
Drawing over 5,500 guitar lovers and enthusiasts to last year’s exhibit, the Melbourne Guitar Show is growing year on year and is gearing up for the biggest event yet. The voice of the Australian music products industry, the Australian Music Association (AMA) will be teaming up with australianmusician.com.au and presenting sponsors Triple M, 3PBS and Aon to present this year’s guitar-centric weekend. At last year’s MGS, punters not only enjoyed scheduled performances and demos from the awesome artists on the lineup, but also witnessed surprise on-stand appearances from some of Australia’s finest artists, including Ian Moss, Darren Middleton (Powderfinger), Paul Dempsey, Oscar Dawson and Ali Barter. Both the promoters of the show and the exhibitors are constantly wrangling acts right up until the very last minute – and who will be joining the all-star jam this year? Come on down and find out!
Thrilled to present #MGS2018 once again, AMA executive officer and MGS organiser, Rob Walker says, “After an awesome show last year, we’re looking forward to continuing the tradition the show is creating. We’re very pleased to present Albert Lee on his 75th birthday tour, as well as the usual host of wonderful players we present.”
Not only will the 2018 MGS provide a hands-on chance to see, hear and play a broad range of the world’s favourite brands, it will also see exhibitors offering great show deals, plus an opportunity to get close to some hand-crafted, locally made instruments and epic guitar and gear collections. Describing the exciting developments, Rob continues, “Our exhibition welcomes back some big names this year and the learning opportunities are plentiful. If you’re in the market for guitars and gear, great live music from some of the best players. the Melbourne Guitar Show is the place to be.”

PETE MURRAY RETURNS WITH ‘HEARTBEATS’ (PETER MAYES REMIX) SINGLE + VIDEO + EXTENSIVE ACOUSTIC NATIONAL TOUR
Byron Bay singer-songwriter and one of Australia’s most loved musicians, Pete Murray has today announced a stunning remix of his song Heartbeats, by ARIA-awarding winning Peter Mayes from PNAU. Pete has also dropped a video for the remix, a short film seeking to inspire audiences to cherish the love they share with others while they still can. To celebrate, Pete has also announced a 3 piece acoustic tour that will cross the country playing intimate club shows, supported nationally by exciting newcomer, Matthew Armitage. The special run kicks off in Perth at Rosemount Hotel on June 29, moving through regional and metropolitan cities in Western Australia, Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, and wraps up in Canberra at The Basement on August 26.
This remix of Heartbeats is subtle, and truly showcases Pete’s diversity as an artist. Peter Mayes has expertly crafted understated percussion that percolates underneath Pete’s vocal, and propels the track from heartfelt ballad into edgy new territory for Pete Murray. Fans are sure to love this rework of Heartbeats just as much as the original. “I’m excited to try and do things a little differently these days,” Pete says, “this Heartbeats remix from Peter Mayes is a fun new thing for me and I’m stoked with how it came out.”
The video for the Heartbeats accurately reflects the song’s lyrical theme through an honest and affecting lens. Directed by Corey Donaldson (Alex L’Estrange, Swilo, Sundown Jury), the clip is propelled by a narrative that highlights the thrill of young love, and the devastation that can ensue. Filmed in Pete’s hometown of Byron Bay, the opening sequence of the headland is a recurring setting that powerfully and poignantly closes this stunningly evocative short film. It is moving, and beautiful, just as the song is.
2017 was a massive year for Pete, with his ARIA award-nominated album Camacho debuting at number 3 on the ARIA charts, and a packed-out 33 date album tour across Australia. With over one million album sales to his name, the quiet achiever of Australian music is committed to constantly growing as an artist and offering fans new and exciting material with each release.
Pumped to hit the road and play acoustic versions of his popular songs for fans across Australia, Pete enthuses, “I love acoustic tours as it’s always great to strip songs back to their bare bones and do cool versions of them. This tour is going to be a lot of fun and will also be a three piece tour, something I have never done before in Australia”
Heartbeats (Peter Mayes remix) is set for release on March 21. The album Camacho is available now.
Tickets to the Heartbeats acoustic tour will be on sale from March 21. Head to www.petemurray.com for ticketing information.
