RÜFÜS DU SOL’S ‘INNERBLOOM’ LANDS AT #5 IN TRIPLE J HOTTEST 100 OF THE DECADE

Grammy-nominated RÜFÜS DU SOL today had their song INNERBLOOM make a top 5 appearance in triple j’s listener-voted Hottest 100 of the Decade countdown, coming in at #5. And the What So Not remix of INNERBLOOM also featured in the countdown, landing at #64.

Lifted from their 2016 album BLOOM, that debuted at #1 on the Australian ARIA charts, this is Innerbloom’s first entry in to the Hottest 100, though the What So Not remix of the song came in at #30 that year, as well as the band’s Say A Prayer For Me charting at #55. With 9 new songs entering the Hottest 100 countdown for the first time, triple j commented, “According to triple j listeners, time can heal all wounds and land you a place in the Hottest 100 of the Decade… suggesting that some songs take time to reach their full potential.”

Thrilled with Innerbloom’s placement in Australia’s glorified Hottest 100 countdown that recognises and celebrates fan favourites of the decade, keys player Jon George exclaims, “Number 5, what a trip, thank you to everyone who voted and who connects with that song.  It’s my favourite song to play live, I remember when we first wrote it and talked about putting it out before we released the album, we had a lot of chats with the label because putting out a 9 minute song isn’t the usual thing. We stuck to our guns and were very sure we didn’t want to change the arrangement, it needed to be a slow burn.  I remember the first time we played Innerbloom live before it had been released and seeing people cry before we’d even finished playing the song – it’s very special to know it can have that kind of impact.”

This news lands off the back of a big week for the Aussie trio who last Friday dropped a global release of their anticipated debut film and live album, RÜFÜS DU SOL: Live from Joshua Tree. The 45-minute immersive experience captures a RÜFÜS DU SOL live show performed to absolutely noone, showcasing the band’s powerful live energy set against a backdrop of fittingly captivating desert terrain.

Last week, the band held two exclusive, sold out Australian premiere screenings of the film at Ritz Cinemas Randwick in Sydney and IMAX in Melbourne, raising $18,000 to go directly to The Red Cross for Australian bushfire aid.

And amidst the release of their debut film and live album, RÜFÜS DU SOL set out on another world tour across the Americas and Europe, with a brand new production. Following over a year of sold-out shows to half a million fans, the last week alone has seen the guys headline M3F, Okeechobee and CRSSD festivals, and perform sold out shows in Charlotte NC, San Diego CA, New Orleans LA.

The RÜFÜS DU SOL: Live from Joshua Tree album is out now via Rose Avenue and Warner Music, and the Live from Joshua Tree film is now available to watch on YouTube.
