HOLY HOLY DROP LIVE VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE ‘A HEROINE’ + EMBARK ON EU / UK TOUR THIS WEEK

What a year it’s been for our favourite nostalgic indie rockers, Holy Holy! Now armed with their hugely successful, critically acclaimed debut album, When The Storms Would Come, they’ve wowed audiences at every leg of their extensive, sold-out national tour of Aus, played a killer set at Splendour In The Grass, created a massive buzz abroad with their international album release, and will next week embark on their second tour of Europe and the UK for the year. And before they head off, they’ve today gifted fans with a video for new single, A Heroine, filmed during the weekend of their two sold out headline shows at Howler, in Melbourne.

Explaining the inspiration behind the song, lead singer and songwriter Tim Carroll says, “I was listening to a Melvin Bragg podcast about the Ming Dynasty and I was struck with this idea about how over time and place it’s the same few struggles and triumphs that people have. It’s love and loss and death. It’s rivers and roads and moving. It’s trust, betrayal and growing old. Whether in China in 1310 or Ireland in 1970 or us, now.”

The clip for A Heroine was a collaboration between producer/sound engineer Jonathan Steer and film maker Drew Dunlop. “We’ve been working with Jonathan for a while now, he comes on the road to do sound for us and we’ve grown close. He’s very thoughtful and knowledgeable and we like his bold approach to live mixing,” says Carroll. “It’s nice to capture a bit of what the live show is like.”

Holy Holy is fronted by the songwriting team, vocalist/composer Timothy Carroll and guitarist/composer Oscar Dawson. They are joined on the road by permanent drummer Ryan Strathie (Hungry Kids Of Hungary, Andy Bull), touring bassist Graham Ritchie (Airling, Emma Louise), and Brisbane-based producer Matt Redlich as their touring keys player.

What the critics are saying about When The Storms Would Come:
“One of the standout albums to be released this year…Almost perfect” The Daily Telegraph

MELBOURNE HIP HOP ARTIST, NYUON TO RELEASE DEBUT SINGLE, YOUR CITY ALONGSIDE LAUNCH AT THE WORKERS CLUB

Melbourne’s newest hip hop icon and Melbourne Music Bank runner up, NYUON is set to release his debut single, Your City (out February 20), celebrating with a launch at The Workers Club Melbourne on March 13.

NYUON impresses with his anticipated debut single, Your City boasting a laid-back beat with sax undertones and a supremely confident vocal flow. “I wanted ‘Your City’ to be an anthem about my perspective on this city (Melbourne),” explains NYUON. “I refer to myself a lot in this song because I took on the persona of the city, kind of like I was my city’s voice.”

Originally written and recorded by NYUON and produced by high school friend, Cris Gamble in his home studio, Your City was recently re-recorded at Sing Sing Studios after the song secured him second place in Bank of Melbourne’s 2014 Melbourne Music Bank (MMB). Humbled and excited by his experience, NYUON enthuses, “MMB has kicked off a dream for me that I didn’t think would become a reality so soon. It has been like a ride to my dreams in a McLaren P1 because it’s all moving so fast.”

Shot and directed by acclaimed filmmaker, George Kalpa, the clip for Your City fittingly carries the vibe of old school hip hop video clips from the early 90’s. Filmed at night with scenes in the city streets, an industrial wasteland and an inner city basketball court, the gritty video sees NYUON hanging with his boys who have supported him musically from the beginning.

After receiving encouraging praise from music industry professionals for his performance at the Melbourne Music Bank finale held at the Melbourne Recital Centre, NYUON is keen to get out there and show Melbourne what he’s all about. “Just a few months ago I was in the crowd at the ‘Yeezus’ concert daydreaming about one day being the headline of my own events and now it’s actually happening,” beams NYUON. “Maybe I’m still daydreaming? I’m simply blessed to have all these opportunities pop up.”

Born in an Ethiopian refugee camp to Sudanese parents, NYUON and his family moved to Australia in 2001 to escape the civil war and it was in his new life in Melbourne that he discovered his natural talent for spitting rhymes with astute lyrics.

NYUON will be releasing a full-length album in the near future.
