NATHAN CAVALERI ANNOUNCES NATIONAL 26 DATE MIRACLES TOUR NEW ALBUM MIRACLES – OUT NOW

An authentic and adventurous exploration in and beyond the blues and alternative rock realms, the brand new album Miracles out today from revered Australian artist Nathan Cavaleri is a dazzling journey of stylistic evolution and masterful execution. Taking you far beyond the limits of Cavaleri’s trademark creative leanings, Miracles dives headfirst into fresh elements of alternative rock, psych blues, surf rock melodics, funk and swagger alongside Cavaleri’s effortlessly smooth vocals and knock-your-socks-off guitarwork. An irresistible collection of songs to soundtrack life, love and everything in between, Miracles will also imminently offer plenty of sonic delights live in action, with Cavaleri today announcing an extensive run of shows right around Australia from July onwards.

Kicking off on Friday 7 July in Katoomba, Nathan’s Miracles Tour will journey to regional and metropolitan Australia, visiting Taree, Elizabeth Beach, Kununurra, Darwin, Alice Springs, Adelaide, Mount Gambier, Sydney, Canberra, Bulli, Brisbane, Kandanga, Eumundi, Rossville, Wamberal, Newcastle, Hobart, Launceston, Ulverstone, Franklin, Belgrave, Fitzroy, Warburton, Bermagui and, finally, an appearance at Rock The Boat Cruise on Friday 24 November.

Following on from his 2020 full length album Demons, which humbly showcased Cavaleri’s staggering skillset beyond his well-documented early years as a prolific musician and actor, as seen recently featured on ABC’s Australian Story in 2020,  Miracles is ultimately a bewitching amalgamation of diverse sonic palettes, sharp storytelling and a no-holds-barred approach to the alternative and blues rock realms, with Cavaleriwriting, recording and mixing the album himself, documenting the entire creative process via the interactive livestreaming service, Twitch, accumulating 2 million live viewers throughout the process. Stepping beyond comfort zones and expectations at every turn, Cavaleri’s journey towards the release of Miracles is poignantly reflected in the album’s very cover art; a true miracle of life often trivialised in today’s modern world, but a fitting representation of Cavaleri’s own pursuits of resilience, peace and confidence without relying on the world around, as he elaborates, The feeling of releasing Miracles inspires the same contrasting emotions that came whilst creating it: liberation with a side of terror! Fortunately, it’s not the other way around. Even after sending the Miracles masters off to the label, my connection to inner truth was tested. The courage it took to create this album has been like no other. All songs pulled, ripped, cried, laughed and loved from the depths of my emotional dwellings; I had to face my creative insecurities head on and challenge all aspects of the past that attempted to block the flow of authentic expression.”

Having grown up in the spotlight, picking up a guitar and learning to play along with some of his favourite blues albums at the age of three, Cavalerihad mastered the electric guitar by the age of five and ticked off his first official gig a year later. Amongst a devastating leukaemia diagnosis and a burgeoning profile as some of the Australian music industry royals flocked to his skills and story, Cavaleri was soon performing extensively around the country alongside the likes of Jimmy Barnes and Diesel, going on to tour globally alongside Etta James, Bonnie Raitt and BB King while still receiving treatment for leukemia. Simultaneously forging his long-term resilience and pursuit for purpose, Cavaleri would receive a clean bill of health at the age of thirteen, before going on to sign to Michael Jackson’s MJJ Records after a competitive bidding war between both Prince and Madonna. But against it all, Cavaleri’s courage and evolution stood strong against multiple storms; a fact that only heightened Cavaleri’s ongoing diversion out of his long-established blues stylings that has currently culminated in the brand new album. And alongside the ongoing expeditions that led to Miracles, some of Cavaleri’s very own mentors also played a part, with varying effects on his creative spirit as he reveals, “I’d been told by mentors, ‘You’ll never be a singer. Get someone else to sing your songs’ and had B.B. King quoting me ‘The future of blues’.  Through accepting the possible realities of disappointment from a community that has supported me my whole life, the purpose for creating music was revealed. Ironically, B.B. King’s advice of ‘Be You’ became my anchor. Emotional turbulence is mercilessly expressed on this album and stylistically found its tones within the alternative rock blues space. Musically you’ll hear anything from weeping surf melodies to fuzzy stomp swaggers. I re-connected with my first musical loves and my latest. And with a fight, my voice found home on the microphone whilst paradoxically taking me to places that I’ve never been before.”

Opening with the driving jaunt of Querencia, Miracles journeys across RoadHouse indie blues lined with psychedelic twists and hypnotic grooves (Broken Lines), George Harrison-esque ballads flowing with emphatic lyrical intimacy (Gone To God), hazy surf rock gems (Cool Changes) and doo-wop ready bliss (Not With You). But while Cavaleri’s swoon and croon permeates every corner of Miracles, he also flexes a dazzling grasp on every genre flavour that finds its way into his enticing mix, while also re-establishing himself as one of Australia’s eminent story-spinners. From the sumptuously sleazy and cheeky ode to stepping outside your comfort zone pulsing with personal intimacy (the aptly titled Comfort Zone) to the primal toe-tapper Man On Fire, featuring Archibald Prize-winner Blak Douglas on Yidaki (Didgeridoo) that demands to be blasted down a desert highway both lyrically and musically, Cavaleri expertly weaves a vivid and bewitching world to lose yourself heart and soul into, continually leaving you wanting more. And amongst softer moments (My Boys, Go Quietly), prowling grit (Dry Ice) and majestic instrumentals (courtesy of closing track When the Party is Over, a surf rock-soaked Billie Eilish cover), the true jewel in the crown for Miracles’ 12 tracks is ultimately none other than its pulsating focus track: the title track Miracles. A true rock’n’roll showing from Cavaleri dipped in fiery hues, palpitating beats and lashings of glistening saxophones, Miracles also pays boisterous homage to early 80s rock via its oscillating sonic thunder and explosive zest that beg to be heard in a live setting.

Fans will have the opportunity to catch Cavaleri all around the country from early July right into November, with the man of the moment locked and loaded for his expansive Miracles Tour. And, as Cavaleri reveals, the tour will find the prolific performer balancing his blues chops with definite nods to his guitar solo-laden past. “The Miracles tour has me staying true to the story-telling style performance introduced for my last album tour for Demons, but the show itself has inherited an elevated level of intensity purely from the nature of the songs themselves. Staying strong with a scaled down yet extremely powerful and electric line up, the set gets spotlight intimate, as well as firing hot in a way that can’t be felt on a recording. And as much as I’ve ventured beyond the blues, I can’t not go back to my roots for a few five or twenty minute solos!”

A true icon of the Australian music industry, Cavaleri’s early years saw him tick off everything from an appearance on Baywatch to performing for the Clintons during their time in office, gracing multiple American primetime TV talk shows, and starring in feature films. But after forming a blues rock band with Col Hatcham from The Screaming Jets, Cavaleri experienced adrenal fatigue and severe anxiety, ultimately spiralling into depression that saw him away from the spotlight. But from his lowest point experiencing a panic attack and passing out on stage of the Queenscliff Music Festival to continuously confronting and tackling many of his demons, seen most recently in 2020 via the extremely aptly titled Demons, Cavaleri has gone on to vigorously thrive since his return to stages and studios following many years away cultivating who he is at his core as an artist, a musician and, most importantly, a person. And it’s this discovery and reigniting of passion that most ardently burns on Miracles, as Cavalerihappily concludes, “After three years of touring since getting beyond mental health challenges, I can finally trust myself on the road. The stage is now the remedy not the challenge. The gig is now an anchor of love and presence that I get to experience with thousands around the country.”

Miracles is out today, Friday June 16.

COYLE GIRELLI SHARES NEW SINGLE + VIDEO ‘MUSEUM DAY’

An effervescent delight, the brand new single Museum Day officially out today from NY-based English singer-songwriter Coyle Girelli blends a lush tale of carefree sentimentality and transient points in time, while also offering a peek into a new upcoming album for the charming English troubadour. Upbeat and overflowing with good vibes, Museum Day also comes armed today with a vivid new music video pulsing with abstract passion and pure Coyle Girelli allure.

Written and produced by Coyle himself, Museum Day draws on sonic sprinklings from the likes of The Smiths, The Drums, Big Thief, Alvvays and Harry Styles, with Coyle’s trademark warmth amplified alongside a potent indie twist. Amid splashy percussion, shimmering guitar tones and driving basslines, Museum Day enamours as Coyle effortlessly lolls across smooth melodics like a cool breeze on a warm summer’s eve; and it’s this very sensation alongside thematics of fleeting perfect moments that ultimately inspired Museum Day, as Coyle explains, “Museum Day is a more upbeat indie vibe than I’ve done for a while. It sounds like a hot summer’s night on the town in New York City, without the hangover in the morning. It’s about a moment. A memory. A happy one. A perfect one. Something you crave and miss and want.”

Conjuring his latest outing in Brooklyn alongside Grammy Award-winning producer Lorenzo Wolff (Taylor Swift, Kayne West), Coyle also teamed up on Museum Day with Patrick Dillett (The National, St Vincent, David Byrne) mixing, and mastering by the illustrious Greg Calbi. And also joined by Jon Danovic (Phoenix, Lady Gaga, Andrew WK) directing Museum Day’s accompanying music video, Coyle’s whimsy and beguiling ways come to joyful life, elegantly balancing the track’s motifs and jaunty elements. “I’d previously worked with Jon on my videos for Do You Wanna Dance and Here Comes My Baby,” shares Coyle of the Museum Day music video, “We filmed it in Los Angeles, and it also features Ukrainian actress Nina Podolska. For the video we went with a more abstract thing that creates a feeling; A collection of images and moments that are playful but also have a kind of tension, similar to the feeling of the song.”

Releasing his sophomore album last year in the form of the relentlessly endearing Funland, Coyle’s undeniable musical magic drastically turned heads as a solo artist via his 2018 debut album release Love Kills. With an ongoing penchant for formidable songwriting and measured genre exploration, Coyle’s musical prowess has also found him hotly in demand as a songwriter and producer for multiple artists, including work with BTS, Macklemore, Robin Schulz, Westlife and more. A multi-instrumentalist who has also turned his gaze to musical theatre alongside building towards his, as yet unnamed, third studio full length, Coyle is only truly just getting started in 2023 – and Museum Day is the perfect introduction to album #3. And fittingly, as Coyle concludes, Museum Day was the natural choice to represent the brand new chapter in the ever-evolving Coyle Girelli creative journey:I’m very excited to be releasing this one as the first new music from my new upcoming album. It was the first one that came together so it just naturally pushed its way to the front of the line.”

Museum Day is out today, Wednesday June 14.

THE ELSEWHERES SHARE NEW SINGLE + VIDEO RUN AWAY WITH ME

Like a cloud of folk-soaked smoke curling down a hazy highway, the new single Run Away With Me out today from technicolour folk rock collective The Elsewheres welds gritty textures laden with oscillating brassy licks and fluttering guitarwork. An ode to freedom and intoxicating romance, Run Away With Me also arrives today with an accompanying music video, seamlessly complementing the raucous and tongue-in-cheek single that will also be launched on full display on Thursday 10 August at Melbourne’s The Curtin Hotel.

A release years in the making, Run Away With Me simultaneously nods to the songwriting prowess of Paul Simon, John Lennon, David Bowie and Passenger, as well as a distinct nod to the anecdotal stylings of Bob Dylan throughout proceedings. Simultaneously playful and powerful, Run Away With Me is also equally steeped in fantasy and reality as lead singer and songwriter Oliver Northam explains, Run Away With Me captures a fantasy I’ve always had of an unexpected meeting between two unlikely lovers who, although uncertain, long to abandon their mundane lives. For me, it is a story of freedom and the beauty of a recklessly romantic love. Although fictional, Run Away With Me does draw from real moments and memories. The inspiration for the ‘topless bar’ in which our characters meet in the opening verse comes from my first job out of high school as a pianist at a burlesque bar. It’s within that smoky, sordid world that I see these characters breathing.”

Brought to life during the songwriting process with Oliver working alongside Ella Hooper (Killing Heidi) and Alex Gow (Oh Mercy), Run Away With Me ultimately reached its final form when Melbourne composer Lee Bradshaw reached out to Oliver during lockdown, with Michael Bradshawmixing, and mastering by Jeremy Chua. From sleep-deprived nights to its final polished form, Run Away With Me not only presents a mesmerising antidote to mundanity; it also significantly stems deep into The Elsewheres’ creative journey, as Oliver reveals, “As the oldest song in our set, this little sucker has been with us in every crowded bar and every empty room for years. It’s the first song we ever played together as a band and it’s one of our absolute favourites because it can’t be played without smiling. I wrote this tune way back in high school and after such a long journey in my pocket it’s a very proud moment to finally be setting it free.”

Working alongside Matt Wallace (director) and Lawrence Phelan (producer), The Elsewheres’ accompanying music video is a beautiful exploration of love on the run. Matt wrote a fantastic cinematic concept of a runaway couple galivanting through the countryside. We were all immediately in love with the idea…” says Oliver of the heart-warming clip. Filmed around the roiling hills just beyond where Oliver grew up in Harcourt, he notes “There’s an old abandoned out house which I used to climb on as a boy, and I knew this had to play a role. Matt had also written in a scene where we would sneak into an old ladies’ house and steal some freshly baked cookies, and so it was absolutely hilarious when mum stepped up to the plate for her debut role. She nailed it.”

Consisting of a formidable 8-piece squad armed with blazing brass, toe-tappin’ grooves and vocal harmonies to make you weak at the knees, The Elsewheres champion honest storytelling coated in raucous and thumping arrangements via their vivid folk rock flair. Helmed by Oliver’s vulnerable and searingly intimate narratives, The Elsewheres resoundingly emerged in 2019 with multiple festival appearances, including Newport Folk Festival and Nightjar Festival, while their debut single Into His Arms snagged community radio support and spent five consecutive weeks in triple j Unearthed’s Top 10 Chart. Alongside Oliver’s pursuits beyond The Elsewheres, which spans being selected as one of seven songwriters to represent Australia in the London MX Music Exchange, winning the Push Songwriting Competition in 2020 and working as a contemporary musician at The Australian Ballet School, Oliver and The Elsewheres have a special launch show locked and loaded in Melbourne on Thursday 10 August at The Curtin Hotel. And, as Oliver reveals, there’s a whole lotta The Elsewheres magic still to come in 2023: Run Away With Me is our first release in three years but it’s not going to be our last this year. We’ve been working like dogs to get some new material ready for your ears so keep ya mincers peeled, there’s something bigger coming!”.

Run Away With Me is out today, Friday June 9.
